Mobile Sports Betting Not Yet Available. Retail Sports Betting Available. FanDuel will launch a stand-alone mobile platform in Virginia, where lawmakers legalized mobile-only sports betting last April. Since then, the lottery has been at a sprint to launch operators. It’s possible Virginia could beat Michigan to the punch — the latter’s gaming control board announced Tuesday that it would launch operators Friday.
FanDuel Sportsbook is one of the most popular sportsbooks in the country, and for a good reason. FanDuel provides a wide range of sports betting options. From Australian Rules Football to Tennis, if you want to bet it, odds are FanDuel Sportsbook has it. Another reason they are a great sportsbook, their number of live betting options. You can access the FanDuel Sportsbook virtually any time of the day and see live odds continually changing.
This is one of the best features that separates FanDuel Sportsbook from the rest of the competition. Each day FanDuel offers players a chance to win a little extra money with their “Odds Boosts” bets. What are Odds Boosts? Odds Boosts are an added value to a bet or parlay. Examples of this could include “Yankees win, and Mets lose,” and the value could be boosted from +150 to plus +200. It could also be as simple as “Serena to win Wimbledon” boosted from +100 to +175. There is a max bet associated with most Odds Boost bets, but for the added value, it is certainly worth the limitations.
For those who are new to sports betting, a sportsbook can look a little confusing at first, but it is straightforward to understand everything you are seeing. You may see a number attached to a certain bet, such as +150 or -110. These are the odds that payout for that particular bet. If you see a bet selection with +150, that means for every $100 you risk, you win $150 in return. So if you bet $300, you would win $450 on that bet. When you see a -150, that will work the opposite way. You would have to wager $150 to win $100. So if a bet has a line of -120, you would need to bet $120 to win $100. If you bet $100 on that -120, you would only win $83.33.
Don’t worry. The FanDuel Sportsbook does all the calculations for you; all you have to do is input your desired betting amount. The bet slip will show you how much you can win for the particular bet you have chosen.
There are a lot of different betting options, but we are going to stick to the basics for now. The most common types of betting are “Money Line”, “Spread”(sometimes referred to the “Run Line” in baseball and the “Puck Line” in hockey), and “Total”.
“Money Line” betting is the simplest and most common form of betting. This means you are betting who will win the game or match. It is that simple. If you would want to bet on the Green Bay Packers to win against the Pittsburgh Steelers, no matter by how much, all you would do is place a Money Line bet. For favorites, the payouts are smaller on Money Line bets. For underdogs, the payouts are higher.
The “Spread” is the score set by the sportsbooks that your bet must either win by if they are the favorite or “cover” if they are the underdog. Covering means an underdog doesn’t lose by the amount of the spread or more. An example of this would be if the Packers were favored by seven points. You would see Green Bay-7 in the sportsbook, and in return, you would see Dallas+7. This means if you bet the spread, the Packers have to win by more than seven for that bet to win. If you take Dallas, they can lose by as many as six points or even win the game, and you win your bet. The Spread is how a sportsbook evens the playing field for underdogs.
The “Total” is another simple and common way of betting. This means you are betting the “Over” or “Under” on a specific game. In an NFL game, you could see a total of 40 points. If you bet the Under, you would need the combined score of the two teams playing in that game to be less than 40 points to win your bet. If you take the Over, any total in that game higher than 40 points will get you the win.

The FanDuel welcome offer is consistent, regardless of the state you’re betting in. There actually isn’t a FanDuel sportsbook promo code, but new sign ups will still receive a $1000 risk free bet. It’s a pretty straight forward promotion – make a deposit, and place your bet. If it loses, FanDuel will refund the bet up to the maximum of $1000, as a Promotion Bonus in the form of a one time free bet.
Refunds will be issued within 72 hours, so don’t panic if it doesn’t show up immediately. As an added bonus, the one-time free bet pays both the bet amount and the profit. Other sites only pay out the profits on their free bets, meaning that if you bet $1000 at odds of +100 on FanDuel using a free bet, the pay out would be $2000 ($1000 bet + $1000 profit) whereas other sites would only pay the $1000 profit.
Notably, if your first wager includes multiple items on one betting slip, the first listed bet will be the one that counts towards the promotion. The current expiration date for the offer is December 31st, 2020.
Follow a few quick steps and you’ll be betting on sports, legally and safely, in no time.

For those that prefer doing things the old fashioned way, it’s also an option to visit one of FanDuel’s partner casinos and deposit directly, in person, at the counter with cash. You can also take money out of your account that way, in addition to requesting a paper check that will be mailed to your address on file. If you have concerns regarding banking and your FanDuel sportsbook account – don’t. It’s extremely easy, and if you ever have questions support is there to help.
To see what options are available, load up the FanDuel Sportsbook cashier and take a look. It’s important to keep in mind that you don’t actually have to be in a state with legal sports betting in order to make a deposit. The best thing about betting online with FanDuel? It’s easy. It’s never difficult to find the event you want to bet on, with the most sought after live and upcoming contests listed front and center under the ‘Popular’ tab. Once you’ve made your pick, select it, and you’ll see your bet slip will appear, along with your chosen wager. Choose the desired bet amount, and place the wager.
By adding more than one bet to the slip you can easily turn them into Round Robins or Teasers with larger payouts.

Before you start betting on sports it’s always a good idea to take a look at the rules and regulations to make sure there aren’t any state-specific items that may impact your experience. We’ve summarized some notables for you below:
FanDuel has arrived in Iowa. The Diamond Jo properties in the state, located in both Dubuque and Northwood, are now home to official retail FanDuel Sportsbooks.
When Iowa first launched, there was a rule that registration had to occur in-person. Today, online sports betting is available anywhere within state lines and as of January 1, 2021, registration available anywhere an internet connection is available via your computer or mobile device.
FWEET! – (that’s supposed to be a whistle noise). FanDuel and DraftKings are headed to the penalty box to serve 18 months for being ‘bad actors’. Illinois will soon be launching both retail and online sports betting, however, FanDuel won’t be there at the start. The state placed both DraftKings and FanDuel in a penalty box, excluding online-only licenses from being awarded until more than 18 months after the state awards its first ‘master license’. The restriction was meant to both penalize FanDuel, and give a head start to operations already in state.
Illinois casino owners felt like FanDuel’s DFS operations constitute gambling, and should have been treated as such. Thus, their continued operation was a violation of state law and deserving of a penalty. A three year ban was proposed, but the state decided that 18 months was fair.
West Virginia is different from the other states in that it has its own, independent sportsbook app. While other approved states in the U.S. are able to bet while using the same app, WV will require a separate download. The reason being that the West VA version also incorporates DFS.
FanDuel arrives in Colorado through a partnership with Twin River Worldwide Holdings. Online operations are underway, though there are no immediate plans for a sponsored retail sportsbook in the state. The Colorado betting sheet is wide open with a ton of available markets. Enjoy.
FanDuel was there from the start in Tennessee, taking bets in the industry’s first online only market on November 1, 2020. Notably, individual player props are the only off-limits item.
Since the state has no retail component, FanDuel has no licensing or casino partner in Tennessee.
FanDuel was the very first online sports betting site/app to get the go-ahead in the Old Dominion. FanDuel Sportsbook took its first Virginia bets on January 21, 2021. The site partners in the state with the NFL’s Washington Football Team.
Notably, the state of Virginia does not allow for wagering on in-state collegiate athletics, or college props. Beyond that, Virginian’s have access to a healthy betting sheet.
FanDuel will soon be active and accepting online bets in the state of Michigan. It has partnered with one of the state’s three commercial casinos located in the Detroit area: MotorCity Casino. In-person betting began in March 2020, however, online sports betting is nearing launch. In fact, you can pre-register right now and secure an extra $100 in exclusive bonuses.

FanDuel has excelled at creating a sense of parity between browser based wagering and the mobile app experience. They use the same color scheme, and a very similar layout – get to know one, and you’ll be comfortable on the other. The differences are minor, like the bet slip appearing at the bottom of the mobile app but on the right side of the browser client. Both are clear and user friendly though.
All Apps are easy to find, at the bottom of the FanDuel homepage there’s a dedicated ‘FANDUEL APPS’ section with links for DFS and Sportsbook, both iOS and Android. You can also grab the iOS apps directly from the app store.
As mentioned above the FanDuel West Virginia sportsbook app is completely separate from the sportsbook app used in other states, and will need to be downloaded independently.
